DAY 79 - BE TRUE TO YOUR WORD

There is a LOT going on right now in our world.  So many things we cannot control, inflation, companies downsizing, interest rates increasing, and still concerns over more new versions of COVID that might creep in during the cold months ahead.  To name a few.  However, what we can control is how we respond to these challenges and to others.  One of the most important things to me, especially when there is turmoil, is for the people in my life to be true to their word.

DAY 81 - FINDING A VOICE TO BE A LEADER

It’s important to remember the way we teach and lead our children as parents through our actions and our words, our voice, is also how our peers observe and learn from us as well. When we show leadership, conviction, empathy, and pride in our work it will always rub off on the right people. And those who are ready to listen are the ones we can help to become the leaders of tomorrow. Leadership is learned and earned.

Who in your life, whether personal or professional, can you help guide and lead? Find that person and show interest in them and offer to help coach them to find their voice.

DAY 82 - RECOMMENDED READING – COACH TO COACH

Today I wanted to share a book with you.  It is a terrific book that just speaks to the heart of coaching people.  In many ways, we’re all coaches.  Whether you’re raising kids, a teacher, or a manager; you’re a coach.

DAY 83 - RAISE NECESSITY

Necessity inspires.  Necessity drives us.  Necessity creates urgency.  If we understand the “why” of what the goal is, we can create a habit that has more tangible meaning for us.

DAY 84 -JUST DON’T LISTEN TO THEM

Chances are that when you share your goals & dreams with people, someone invariably will step on them.  They’ll tell you why you shouldn’t waste your time or why they think it’s a crazy idea.  You might think, “why would they do that if they care about me?”  Because this behavior isn’t about you.  It’s about them.

DAY 86 - ASKING FOR HELP ISN’T WEAKNESS, IT’S STRENGTH

I had lunch this week with a friend that recently went through a layoff.  She is one of the most incredible and dynamic women you’d ever come across.  Very skilled at her job, her company recently downsized, and she was one of the many displaced.  Regardless of the circumstances, these are the life events that shake us.  Aside from the obvious financial concerns that invariably come up quickly, it’s not uncommon to feel angry, betrayed, or even fearful.  I’ve gone through it myself.  If this is something you’re facing, allow me to offer a few things to consider:

DAY 87 - TODAY, TELL A TEACHER THEY MATTER

If you have school-age children, make a point of thanking them today. Go out of your way to extend gratitude for the incredibly important job they have. And if you’re a teacher, thank you for what you do. It matters!

DAY 88 - ARE YOU GRATEFUL?

When we bring gratitude into our daily lives, we begin to shift our perspectives. Gratitude fosters a different mindset, one that supports a deeper appreciation and enthusiasm for what we have. If you truly commit to taking time to evaluate your life with a lens of gratitude, you start to connect with what’s positive and working well, instead of always looking at what’s missing.

DAY 89 - WHAT’S STOPPING YOU NOW?

What have you always wanted to do and couldn’t because something was in the way?  No time, money, support, fill in the blank.  Imagine for a moment that that barrier that’s always gotten in the way is no longer there.  What would you want to do?  Learn to paint, ballet dance, do a stand-up comedy routine?  Write a book, train to run a marathon, take singing lessons, or learn to bake French pastries? Come on…think of it.  If there is nothing to get in your way, what would you want to do?

DAY 91 - KEEP THE PASSION GOING

What’s important to remember is that even when you are doing the work you love and believe in, the passion for it can sometimes wane. It’s bound to happen. It doesn’t mean you don’t love it any longer, it just might mean you need a reset. When those feelings hit me, I know it’s time to do something about it. It has taken time to recognize the warning signs, loss of excitement or enthusiasm, my energy starts to feel low, the snooze button on the alarm clock gets hit (sometimes several times) or I start dreaming about the weekend coming and it’s only 11:00 AM on Monday. We’ve all been there. If you’re there now, let’s get some ideas flowing on how to get back in the right mindset.

DAY 92 - SPENDING & SAVING PLAN – EVALUATING EXPENSES

Let’s talk about evaluating your budget and what you can cut out. Hopefully, these ideas give you a few things to consider when evaluating your spending. The important takeaway is to do something about it now. If you are overextended on spending, you can’t afford to wait. How creative did you get to cut back on your expenses? Share one thing that really helped you save some money.

DAY 93 - SPENDING & SAVING PLAN – BUILDING A BUDGET

There are so many reasons to periodically re-evaluate your monthly spending. It shouldn’t be done only when there is a life event like, losing a job, expanding your family, or medical issues. It should be something you do at least twice a year. If now is the time to cut back on spending, there are a few easy steps you can take to create some new behaviors that just might help. It starts with building a budget.

DAY 94 - I KNOW I SHOULD

“Should” goals are tough; I have to say!  They are the things you really, really want to do but just can’t manage to get them into a routine.  Maybe you tried it a couple of times, then it just stopped.  I should work out.  I should cut down on my spending.  I should lose that last 20 pounds.  I should get out and build a stronger network.

Day 96 - DO MORNINGS DRAIN YOU?

Today’s topic is perfect for a Monday morning - Did you have a hard time getting going this morning? If mornings drain you, you have to change it.  If you are already stressed or exhausted by the time you start working, you’re headed for a very long day.  I spent a number of years

Day 97 - RELATIONSHIPS MATTER – NUMBER ONE – SELF

Our days are full to the brim with competing priorities.  Unless we create the time and space to work on relationships, they can falter.  But it must start with taking care of you first. I know this has been overused in many self-development books, but I’m going to say it anyway…when you’re on an airplane there’s a reason you are told to put your oxygen mask on first.  If you don’t care for yourself, you can’t care for others.

Day 98 - DOES IT STILL MATTER?

It’s time to re-evaluate your 2022 goals.  If you aren’t someone who creates a goal list at the beginning of the year, it’s okay…keep reading. I’m not one to do traditional New Year’s resolutions.  But I am someone who writes down my goals, and the things I want to accomplish
